SOCIAL SECUITY DISABILITY

THESE ARE SOME ISSUES THAT I HAVE PERSONALLY FACED AND AM SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS
  • Employ People With Disabilites, and utilize their ABILITIES!  I have been terminated from 2 different companies because of the stigma of disabilites, the first with 9 years of service, the second with 8 years of service.
  • NEVER GO WITHOUT DISABILITY INSURANCE.,  WHICH I HAD AT LAFARGE, AND THEY DECIDED THEY DIDN'T WANT TO PAY IT ANY LONGER, SO THEY FOUND A REASON TO FIRE ME.  I have sought out assistance from every government entity, every organization I could find, in order to try to avoid foreclosure on our home, all to no avail.  I have found that you can work with your mortgage company, they will work with you, but you must find a way to make your payments.
  • NOBODY WANTS TO HEAR YOUR STORY!  If an animal is treated with cruelty, it's all over the news, but if a grown man is treated with cruelty, disrespect, total disregard for human suffering, lack of proper medical treatment, the inability to maintain his own life then NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR IT!
  • EDUCATE THE PUBLIC.  We Must make a public statement, that we are willing to work, and would rather work than not, but cannot even get that much out of a warped and selfish socitey.  We struggle, and no one sees it.  If I used the medical devices I really needed, I would be on crutches or in a wheelchair most of the time.  But I prefer to not be seen as an ivalid.  I walk with "foot-drop", a medical term which means your foot either drags, or you have difficulty walking.  Sometimes, I walk fine, with enough meds in my system to be a meal, who wouldn't?
  • I REFUSE TO GIVE IN.   Sure, I go hungry many days, and without meds, without medical treatment, etc.  But I am stubborn.  I do eat at least one meal per day, most days.  But usually no more than one.
  • BAND TOGETHER. We need to join as many organizations as possible to do with disability, and to apply for whatever we can get in the way of assistance.  So far, I have not applied for anything but disability, but it's now to the point I have to seek out assistance in order to survive.

THE SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK, IT NEEDS REPAIR!

People like me need a way to earn income, from their homes, or with a flexible schedule while waiting on the slow processes of the government.

I have about 50 or more media and governmental contacts that I intend to continue emailing until I get some answers, and some results.

I have been turned away from four doctor appointments in about one month's period for various reasons, after making the appointments, and clearly describing to the receptionists, and or nurses my conditions.

The first one was scheduling issues; after having explained up front to the receptionist that I had to have afternoon appointments, they started scheduling morning appointments, which I could not make.

The next two, I described specifically to the receptionists, and/or nurses my conditions, and they indicated that the doctor would treat me for these conditions, but these doctors advised me they did not treat these conditions.

The last one was my fault.  I accidently left my insurance card at home, and when I asked if I could bring it back after the appointment, they refused, and rescheduled me.  So I have been over a month without treatment.

All of this is totally asinine, unacceptable, and unprofessional.  You get better medical treatment in some second and third world countries than in the US.  It took about 15 differnent doctors or more, over about a seven year period to properly diagnose my condition; Peripheral Neuropathy

Peripheral neuropathy describes damage to the peripheral nervous system, which transmits information from the brain and spinal cord to every other part of the body.

I am on a mission to educate America on "Invisible Disabilities."  For instance, if someone sees me out and about, I look normal and physically capable of working a normal job.

But what they don't see is the first one-half to two-thirds of the day of me struggling to move, get up, take meds, doing simple exercises to get loosened up.  As well as the inability to reach, walk, speak plainly, perform simple tasks as getting a shower, brushing my teeth, preparing food, house hold chores, etc.

These all come with great pain until I finally get relief about half-way through the day.  I have to take 2 different narcotic pain medications, along with Asprin, muslce relaxers, stimulants,  and siezure medications just to be able to function.  The amount of time it all takes to work varies.  I also drink a lot of enegy drinks, mainly the water with vitamins, along with multi-vitamins, vitamin-B Complex and  mangesium.

I totally despise taking meds, especially narcotics.  Before I developed Peripheral Neurapothy, if I  went to the dentist for instance, I would never take pain meds prescribed to me, I would just take an Asprin if anything at all.

Many nights I cannot sleep because I dread waking up in excruciating pain the next day.

I am trying to encourage businesses, industries, corporations and government organizations to hire people on a temporary basis, with specific accomodations while waiting for SS disability.

MOST OF ALL, I would rather be working, with a flexible schedlue than to be on Disability.  I think that if businesses would promote and implement such programs; this would help bring our taxes down, and put more money in the pockets of the American People.
